Camp Wintaka

Emily, Margaret and Danica headed up to Camp Wintaka today for a week of fun in the mountains! If anyone wants to send a letter (you need to send it pretty quick) the address is:

Hoping everyone can go next year, our huge group would really pack a cabin!

thanks to emily and sage (oh and the dads helped too, ha ha!) our second tree is in. anyone passing by council, please stop by and give it some water. it will need to be watered a lot during the summer months (give a little to our first tree too, its a little fried from too much sun). we need everyone to help, thanks!

Madrona Marsh

These are pictures of our amazing nature walk at Madrona Marsh! We had a nice turnout and everyone had a great time, the weather was perfect. I am personally amazed at how interesting and plentiful the plant and animal life is at this nature reserve (and our guide Daniel was fantastic!) A few highlights were the gorgeous flowers, jumping chameleon frogs and swampy areas full of fish and ducks.

We will definitely make Madrona Marsh a place we visit often in the years to come, it was an excellent example of what a wetlands reserve can look like. Plan on visiting with your families this summer if you couldn't make it today (remember that the water will dry up some, so visit soon if you can) or wait until we go together as a group next fall. The girls will be able to see why saving Los Cerritos Wetlands is so critical for our area. Someday we can visit our own wetlands/marsh just down the street! I cant wait for that day.

registration

it's that time again, fall registration.

if you haven't registered for the fall yet, give me a call or email so i can sign you up, deadline is june 30th or there will be a late fee. i need to schedule an appointment (this is new this year) to turn in the paperwork all together, i was hoping to do it wednesday (june 18)

day camp training

any parents who want to get some day camp training, this saturday from 10:30a to 1:30p is a special adventure level training at camp shiwaka. the training will make it easier for me to have parent helpers during day camp, so if you can come by, please do! thanks!
